Full Engine Blueprint
Blueprinting is usually only done on race bikes, but can be of use on your street 125. The process is primarily
completed to increase reliability, and it involves stripping the engine completely, to rebuild it to the exact manufacturers tolerances and
settings.
When a bike comes out of the factory, it is very slightly ‘off’ the designed specification. Although the
differences are getting smaller and smaller due to advances in the processes used to make engines, there are still benefits to be had.
I have spoken to engine tuners who have found all sorts when they have opened up a brand new engine, such as
cracked and pours pistons, crushed bottom end bearings, and exhaust ports that extended out into the bore and into the path of the piston! Blue
printing is a very expensive task, as it is very labour intensive, and the power gains are minimal. But, if you have the cash, it is an
option.
